The Employment Specialist is responsible for coordinating and supporting the delivery of employment services for individuals living with disabilities, including job development, placement, and retention. The Employment Specialist maintains an active caseload and models best practices in employment services. Sales, business development, and/or employer engagement experience strongly preferred, including the ability to promote candidates and secure employment opportunities

Employment Specialist

The Transition Specialist provides job readiness instruction and employment support to high school students and adults with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Responsibilities include teaching job readiness curriculum within local high schools, providing job coaching and support during Summer JET, and facilitating onsite job readiness training for adult participants. This is a full-time position averaging 40 hours per week and includes employee benefits.

Transition Specialist

The Employment Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and delivering employment-related vocational rehabilitation services authorized through the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS). This role maintains an active caseload of participants receiving employment services while also supporting employer engagement, job development, supported employment coordination, documentation compliance, and employment outcomes. This position serves as a key operational contact among participants, employers, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and WE Inc. staff to ensure timely, high-quality employment services that lead to successful competitive employment outcomes.

Join Empower Café and help create a warm, welcoming experience for customers while supporting individuals with disabilities/barriers in building skills, confidence, and real-world work experience through our social enterprise café. Team members in this role may also assist with back-of-house operations as needed and will work in close coordination with the Empower Café Chef and training team.

Hospitality Facilitator

The Empower Café Pathway Navigator will help oversee the daily operations of Empower Café, a social enterprise, training program designed to provide certification, experience, and employment opportunities for individuals living with disabilities and/or facing other barriers to employment. The role involves oversight and training of staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining operational efficiency, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all employees and customers. This is a part-time position with the potential for full-time employment in the future.

Café Chef

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions. This role operates with a degree of independence, exercising sound judgment in routine processes while seeking approval from the Director of Accounting and Finance for non-routine decisions. The Bookkeeper is expected to maintain confidentiality, demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, and embody professionalism in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

The summer JET program at Workshops Empowerment Inc. offers high school students living with disabilities the opportunity to gain real-world work experience at one or more local businesses. Each JET staff member plays a vital role in ensuring the success of the program by supervising participants, facilitating learning experiences, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. Staff are also responsible for maintaining accurate records, collaborating with partner businesses, and supporting the overall success of the program.

The Work-Ready ABE Training and Internship Program at Workshops Empowerment Inc. is designed to provide time-limited, paid training opportunities for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Participants engage in job readiness, skill training, and structured, hands-on learning experiences while earning a paycheck. The goal is to build foundational skills, confidence, and readiness for transition into competitive, integrated employment in the community. The internship is available in the following fields:
